APA and Amateur League Championships

APA and Amateur League Championships Continue to Anchor U.S. Pool Calendar

By: Inside Pool Magazine Staff

Amateur league competition remains one of the largest pillars of organized pool worldwide. Major championship events organized by the American Poolplayers Association continue to draw thousands of players annually to Las Vegas for the APA World Pool Championships.

The event features the APA 8‑Ball and 9‑Ball World Championships, widely regarded as the culmination of league play across thousands of weekly divisions. Teams from across North America qualify through local and regional playoffs to compete for national titles and prize funds.

Other amateur organizations, including the Billiard Congress of America league program, the USA Pool League, and the Valley National Eight-ball Association, also continue hosting large national championships and regional tournaments throughout 2026.

The amateur circuit plays a crucial role in developing new players while sustaining the grassroots foundation of cue sports in North America.
